I really need to post some pictures

The all text posts really bore me and make my blog look depressing. But,  I haven't finished anything. I have had this awesome dress idea drawn out, and I think I'm finally gonna start it soon, after I finish a hat I have on needles right now, and the black and white stripe scarf. (Finish scarf because its so nasty out and I don't want to use all my black on the dress before I finish the scarf). I really can't wait though. After I make up the actual pattern and fine tune it, I think I will sell it.

Its pretty simple. stst bodice with 2 simple cables and a lace skirt. Not sure how I want the neckline. little short sleeves with lace edge. :)

The day long Fair Isle Beanie.

It started like this.
Because I wasn't feeling good, and wanted something to keep me busy.
And I wanted to try to knit something Fair Isle.

And it grew to this.

And then this.

And finally it's done.

No class today.

No class today. And I'm glad. No walking in the rain! I can stay home and cuddle with dozer all day. Although, I will probably clean. My apartment needs it badly. And then I'll knit. Because knitting makes everything better. right?
I've been thinking of 'dropping out' of college, or in college terms "withdrawing from all my classes"
I'm falling behind. I don't like going. Its becoming too stressful for me and I can't keep up. I just want to get a mininum wage job, for the time being. Don't get me wrong, I will get my degree, I just don't know if I'll have it completed in 2 years like I hoped. Maybe I'll work for a term, or a year. I don't know. All I know is college is draining me, financially. I need money, and I'm not getting enough with financial aid. I don't like that my phone will be turned off in 10 days because I don't have fifty dollars to pay my phone bill. I have a hospital bill thats being sent to a collections agency. I have 2 internet bills to pay. Where, you ask, is all my money going? To my rent. To my art supplies for my art classes. To my textbooks. To a decent pair of shoes, since mine were falling apart. To paper, pens, pencils. To laundry.
Life is hard. Especially in this crummy town. City. Mini city? Does 20,000 count as a city? Anyway. The economy sucks, big time. I make a good side cash knitting though, since its always windy, cold and wet here and people pretty much have to bundle up to keep warm.

Only when you've lost Everything,
Are you free to do Anything.

Not true. I've lost everything a few times, and I've never been free to do anything.
Why not, you ask? I'm 18. I've lived on my ownsince I was 16, so who in the world could tell me what to do?
everyone. everyone tries to, everyone does.

This is my complaining, life sucks, college sucks, rain sucks, blog post. Hope you enjoyed. (Will post pictures of WIP knitting projects later today)

1940's, '50's, and '60's

Oh, How many times do I wish I was born 60 years earlier?
Alot.

I've always wished I could of grown up in the time my mother did. When Jackie Kennedy was an idol, and everyone knew how to knit. Audrey hepburn was popular, and poodle skirts. The american dream, for me anyways. The economy was strong, (after the war) and it was easy to get a house and start a family.

A more traditional time. Sure, there were no ipods. No laptops. No internet at all. I'd be fine with that :)

Mr.MonkeyChins is special to me because my daddy bought him for me for christmas back when i was in 7th or 8th grade. I normally make him a few sweaters a year but he hasnt had a new one in over 2 years.

Just starting on his sweater.

I love Asain food

I don't know if you would consider this Mongolian, Chinese, or Thai, but I made this for dinner tonight :) My house smells so amazing.
Its made with steak, carrots (some sliced, some sliced like match sticks) Gren and red bell peppers, broc., fresh green beans, peas, and celery. Made some chow mein noodles too, and delicious :)

So long since my last post!

Oh, the life of a college student is busy indeed.

I've still been knitting though! I normally take my knitting to school with me. I have an hour inbetween 2 classes monday, tuesday, and wednesday.

I've been knitting alot of armwarmers! I love that mini mochi yarn, and i had 2 skeins of it. (I thought the skeins would be gone soon, but no! I think I could make two or maybe 3 pairs out of each skein.)

And I've been making a black and white stripe scarf. It's nice and..well huge. Knit in the round, wide, and I'm making it over 6 feet long. That ought to be warm, I hope.

But, I want to knit up some blankets! When the weather gets chilly, I like to wrap up. I was so upset when I realized I didn't bring all my little fleece blankets when I moved- so I guess I might as well knit some up :) Also, I have to finish a blanket for Mike and I want to make one for his little girl, because she is the cutest!

I'll post pictures soon!

Oh boy oh boy

So.. When I go overboard, I REALLY go overboard.
Meet my moms delicious, wonderful, melt in your mouth perfect No Bake Oatmeal Cookies. she made the mistake of giving me the recipe. This is one plate. 1/3 of the batch. and I made 2 batches, because I love them. And I made some for my landlord. And some for my landlords girlfriend. And some more for me. You get my point.

Anyway. To my knitting obsession...

My mom bought me a really cute little silver clutch at walmart. Ever since I've been on a clutch frenzy. This is a "Quick and classy clutch" from one skein wonders that i started. I also plan to make one in silver, black, and blue.

This, I love this yarn! I got it at a local yarn shop before I moved, but its "Mini Mochi" 80% merino wool and 20% nylon, from crystal palace yarns.
One skein is 195 yds/50gr and is 8.75 online (in the store i paid 9) So it is a bit spendy but so worth it (for smaller projects, in my opinion) So I am making armwarmers out of them :) I love how the yarn is self striping.

And this is my 'to knit' box. Everything in there, I have a plan for. I have no life.

And, on a side note, I have one of the bestest big brothers in the world! I love you tommy :)

The things I wish for...

I have a very long "i wish/iwant" list...

  • Yarn. (rainbow colors, wool, wool blend, bamboo/silk blend, shredded sari silk)
  • Duck tape (blak, silver, pink, red, zebra, pink zebra, plaid, tie die)
  • Black curtains (sheer, for my canopy bed, but I'm cheap and use just normal window curtains)
  • Red, silky/satiny bedset.
ALSO, projects I want to complete...
  • Rainbow scarf
  • Circle scarf (no ends, all connected, have a green one started)
  • DUCK TAPE! purses, totes and wallets
If only I had money..unlimited amounts of it

Click Clack goes the needles

Wowza! I've been doing nothing but knitting lately!
This is a bag I knitted, 100% recycled sari silk yarn, bamboo handles, and hot pink silk lining. (and it has a zipper!)

I've also knitted an aray of other things, such as.......
80% bamboo 20 % silk and lined with polyester coin purses

With the same yearn, 80% bamboo and 20% silk, i made two pairs of armwarmers, with cables running up on the thumb sides.

Also, of course, I've knitted a fair amount of scarves.
This are two lace sacrves, rolled and shoved in the yarn labels. Maroon sacrf is Wool Ease (a wool blend) and knit in a shell lace. The camo is classic wool (all wool) and knit in a vine lace.

I've been working on (for forever it seems) an acrylic strip scarf. Purple and black, with caron simply soft. (one of my favorite brands of yarns)

I've also been thinking about opening my own shop on etsy, but I'm not sure. I sell my stuff at a local shop, and get 70% of what they sell for, which is pretty good. I sell on average one or two things a month there. Tell me what you think, stay local or go global?

Knitting

I am in love with Knitting :) Ihand knit alot, but it is so time consuming and tedious work, I have been thinking aboyt getting a knitting machine for scarves/blankets/shawls. Whats your opinion on knitting machines?
